Often times it can be one's own snap judgement that prevents one from attaining the lessons that can come from understanding what is perceived to be darkness. The darkest darks are what allow the brightest brights to exist. If life is a curriculum, suffering is a great teacher. Every hardship is a lesson in disguise. Regardless of how tragic or terrible a grief can be, it teaches a lesson to either an individual or to the collective. With this view, suffering can be appreciated even if not preferred, because it is necessary for us to learn and progress. Sometimes it's hard to forget we're still evolving but, it's important to remember how far we've come. There is something to be learned from everything and everyone, including what we judge to be less than good. And often, our judgement is a lack of depth in understanding.
